Slow Down! Take a closer look!

Stopped work to have a coffee in the conservatory this morning. As always the door was open to invite any available wildlife in. In flew a large wasp who explored my chilli plants for a few moments, then got fouled up in a cobweb by the open window. A real battle royal followed as the spider leapt out from his hidey-hole!

I was too intrigued watching the incredibly fast and frantic fight that followed to get any really good shots, but the spider won!

He raced in 3 times in quick succession to deliver his bites, each time retreating while the wasp slowly succumbed.

The fight went on for maybe 15 minutes as the wasp slowly gave in to the spiders venom. I was only able to get reasonable pictures when the wasp was totally paralysed. A sad end, but that is nature. It was truly fascinating watching the spiders skill at avoiding the wasps sting!

All in all, this made a rather interesting coffee break! There is so much drama going on around us if we only take the trouble to look!
